What's Blue To You?

I was thinking of what to photograph for blue photos, since my original idea fell through today due to no snow. As I was driving around, I noticed 2 blue fire hydrants that I never noticed before, funny how I've spent so much time observing fire hydrants and only ever noticed one blue one  - I always look for red! I'm hoping to find more :)

Me and my boyfriend were discussing the color of a blue car while driving around and I decided to take a photo of the handle, gas door and hood of all the blue cars in the Save on Foods parking lots (not extending into Zellers etc. Its interesting that not all people agree on colors sometimes. For instance, some people may find that one of these cars isn't actually blue. I think it is. Color has a personal context! I found this process really cool because as I photographed the original cars, more cars entered and left the parking lot. I felt as though I could spend a whole day doing this, or a week even (someday I will... & when I do I will be more careful to get each asset in the same fashion, creating a typology)

Street Photography

From the Photo Argus, I found a few examples of a bit less populated street photos - more of what I'm expecting to achieve in Lethbridge than my first findings from New York, L.A., or London....

Color of The Week Proposal #4

The color I will be exploring this week will be blue.
I think it would be an interesting comparison to the 'red' photos I took earlier on.
The majority of my red thoughts gave a feeling of a full and powerful emotion, or a warm thought.
I'm going to try to capture cool things, and perhaps try to capture the emptiness of blue feelings.
Along with metaphorically blue photos, I want to focus on water as well.

Seeing as it's midterm time as well as essay time, I didn't have enough time to get these blue photos done, so this week the blue theme is still on.

New System for Mapping

When I made my fire hydrant book last semester, I was lost on what to title each individual photo. I didn't keep a map of where I went, but knew from the notes I took to tell the different rolls of film apart generally where each roll was shot. I tried to retrace my steps and figure out the street name for each hydrant. about half of them I was sure I knew, the other half were educated guesses.
I intend on making another book of fire hydrants at some point when I collect enough digital files to compose one. I want to include a map of where they are and a correct title for each, and here is my solution to the problem:

So, inevitably, it will be a typology of fire hydrants as well as street signs, although the street signs won't all be exactly the same due to the fact that I stand on the corner to take the photo of the sign, and with alternating side of the street, the signs are not all oriented the same. It doesn't bother me that they will be different though, it adds a bit of interest.
