I found these double exposures thrilling! The placement of buildings and people together is unexpected and is a thoughtful contrast of organic/inorganic forms and beings.
I also notice that there may be a link with memories and the content represented inside the silhouettes...
what makes a memory? where can a memory take you..
nostalgia.
think: that day on the beach,
see: the pier
smell: sea and rain
hear: waves crashing and birds.
touch: the sand on my feet
taste: salty humidity
they say a photo is worth a million words, perhaps some are worth a million memories?
i find myself personally invested in this photo.. how i am not sure but i think that a series of portraits done in this style would be an interesting project.
as for the material which would be overlaid on top of the portrait - models would be asked to recall a sensory memory... as in one where all senses were and can be activated through recollection of any event in their lives.
The emotion on their face would provide enough information for an audience to draw a similar reaction to the facial expression along with the overlaid scenery from a memory.
