Working in black and white got me thinking about color. I thought my fire hydrant photos were interesting in the sense that the actual hydrants could have been any color in real life, but in a black and white photo, people would naturally assume they were red. So I started thinking about what other things people may identify with red when it is viewed in black and white. What is red? Warmth, protection, energy, compassion, lust, frantic, overwhelming, passion, direction, attention, love, anger, blood, berries, bricks, raw meat, fire, soup, power ... So here are a few of the things I photographed to convey the color RED this week.
